I created these problems so that my students would better understand slope, how a steeper slope means the rate is faster, and finding slope from a graph. With this product, there are four variations of the same worksheet, so they may be used in many ways. The teacher may model completing one of the worksheets, then have the students complete another, or the worksheets may be used as quizzes, or the worksheets may be randomly distributed so that not everyone has the same one and more concentrated thinking is necessary.
The word problems are about two people walking in a fundraiser walk/run, each at a different rate. The students read the problem, complete a table of data, then graph the data. There are five questions relating to slope at the end. So often, students are working with linear equations with no meaning. This product is designed to present linear functions in a meaningful way.
