This powerpoint begins with a warm up having students evaluate a quadratic expression for a given value of x. Next, they are formally introduced to a standard form quadratic equation. This is followed by an embedded video demonstrating how to graph a quadratic by creating an x y table. Students are then presented with the terminology relating to the graph; parabola, concavity, vertex, axis of symmetry. Next students are provided a handful of examples and asked to make conjectures about how certain values in the equation will affect the graph. Following these are tables summarizing the effects of certain values on the graph. This lesson is intended as an introduction to quadratic functions.
