This worksheet provides algebra students an opportunity to become familiar with slope-intercept form. Students will identify slope and y-intercept from an equation written in slope-intercept form. Next, they identify equations that are parallel and perpendicular to the given line. Last, they graph all three lines on the same graph.
This exercise is great for students who are beginning to learn about equations of lines and need to recognize the utility of slope-intercept form. It also provides lots of practice for accurately graphing lines, as well as for understanding the relationships between parallel and perpendicular lines & their slopes. Since this activity is meant for beginners (or as a warm-up or review for more advanced students), all y-intercepts are integers.
