This 15 page resource defines graphing vocabulary, presents and explains several kinds of graphs (pictorial, line, bar and circle) and provides unique ways for your students to graph. Most of the ideas for graphing use "real" items such as clothespins or snap cubes. It explains graphing while linking it to the Common Core and gives ideas of how to easily gather and graph information, make comparisons of the data and correctly interpret the data using graphs made from common, ordinary items. There is even a way to graph using water! Fifteen sample discussion questions are included.
It is appropriate for grades K-5 and is based on the Conceptual Model of Development: concrete to pictorial to abstract. A suggested children's list of 29 books linking literature to graphing is included.
