I designed this project as a Math/Technology Integration project. The project instruction sheet includes an explanation of all three parts of the project, and an example of the project expectations:
In Part 1 (Data Collection), students keep track of a leisure activity they do each night by recording the minutes or hours.
In Part 2 (Graphing), students create a graph by hand or using Microsoft Excel/Microsoft Word, including all 5 essential parts of a graph: title, x- & y- axis scales, and x- & y-axis labels.
In Part 3 (Statistical Land Marks), students determine the mean, median, mode of their data and then decide and explain which statistical land best represents how long they performed their leisure activity for the week.
The provided rubric contains 5 categories, and each category's value ranges from 1 to 4 points. Each point value grid specifically breaks down how the points are achieved (or not achieved).
