Graphing and Data Collection File Contents:

Count, Tally, & Graph

Students count and tally the objects on the picture page. Students graph the results and answer questions about the data. There are 15 different themes that include both color and B/W options. Answer keys are included.

Spin, Tally, & Graph

Students will spin, tally, and then graph the results on the page. There are 20 versions included. The pages can be used many times with different results by placing the pages inside a sheet protector or dry erase pocket. The pages include both color and B/W options.

Graphing Practice

Students will either read and answer questions or use the data provided to create a graph. Students will practice with bar graphs, pictographs, line graphs, line plots, and circle graphs. There are 14 worksheets, a journal cover, and answer keys included.

Choose a Graph

Students choose a graph and complete a recording sheet where they interpret the data. There are 16 graphs included (4 per page). A sample page is included.

Let’s Take a Survey

Students can survey their classmates and graph the results. There are 30 survey cards (color and B/W options) and several graphing templates included (vertical bar graph, horizontal bar graph, line plot, and pictograph). A sample is included with the steps for this activity.

Vocabulary Posters

Each graphing poster has 2 versions: one with a description at the top and one without. Some graphs are visually similar (data table/chart, circle graph/pie chart) so you can choose which wording you prefer. These are the graphs included:

• tally chart
• vertical bar graph
• horizontal bar graph
• pictograph
• data table
• chart
• line graph
• line plot
• circle graph

### Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories. Solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.
Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another.
