Teach skills related to math, social studies, writing, and media literacy all in one unit using this graphing project and one or more of the suggested follow-up activities that can be tailored for many different age groups and ability levels. It is designed to be used with one of two free, safe graphing applications, but it could also be used to teach beginners how to create graphs using Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or most other graphing applications. It can be completed in the lab using PCs or Macs or in the classroom on iPads or most devices that connect to the Internet. Students can work individually or with partners.
The package includes detailed teaching notes and illustrations that explain how to create the data table and chart using the two free applications (which offer different formatting and file management options). The student and teacher documents are provided as PDF files, but editable Word files are also included for your convenience (to allow you to modify it for use with an alternate graphing application, if desired).
Important Note: A modified version of this project (without extension activities) is included with my full, third grade curriculum.
