This GO examines Robert Fulghum's iconic "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten." It helps students focus on the Credo's purpose, syntax, diction, punctuation, and tone all in the context of a person's independent wisdom and knowledge.
Analyzing this text leads to the Embedded (Summative) Assessment for this part of the unit where students draft their own credo (see separate file/product for GO for students to write their own credo).
The assignment follows the College Board Springboard text for 11th grade (p. 327) in "The Pursuit of Happiness" unit.
The activity addresses 11th grade CCSS standards:
