    Description

Build reading comprehension, writing skills, and subject knowledge with these writing tasks about the Great Depression.

This bundle contains ALL of my sentence-writing tasks about the Great Depression. Students can start with unscrambling sentences and fixing sentence fragments, move on to building the range of sentence types they can write by practicing using conjunctions and appositives, and finally practice writing more complex sentences in the sentence combining and expanding tasks. The bundle could also be used for differentiating writing tasks as students learn about the same content.

This resource includes both printable worksheets, and fillable PDF forms suitable for distance learning. An answer key is included.

These activities are based on the article “An Overview of the Great Depression” available for free on CommonLit, but they could also be used with other resources about the Great Depression, if similar content is covered.

These tasks could be used as part of a history/social studies unit, or to provide context for students studying novels set during the Great Depression in English class, such as The Grapes of Wrath or Of Mice and Men.
