Product Description
January winter activity for classroom teachers -- Ice Skater Reflections. My “Ice Skaters Reflections” lesson is a favorite winter art activity for classroom teachers and their students! Using readily available (but unusual!) materials, students design, print, and then reveal surprising reflections of ice skaters frolicking on a frozen pond.

This lesson is an off-shoot of one my popular lessons, “Monet’s Magic Solution.” This lesson includes a step-by-step demonstration video (m4v file) to take your students through the processes of making reflections of their artwork using water soluble markers and "Monet's Magic Solution."

The techniques employed are so fun and unusual that students remember this lesson for years to come. I have 3rd and 4th grade students who remember doing this in kindergarten. If you are an art teacher you probably already teach reflections...but do you know this trick? If you are a classroom teacher the uses for this technique are endless and you'll be glad you have this tool in your box of seemingly magic art tricks for your students. Another application for this technique is to help teach your students about symmetry in a fun new way!

In addition to the how-to video, this lesson includes a materials list, examples, step-by-step instructions, and a collection of clip art images originally designed and drawn by Jenny K. that can be used to inspire and/or guide your students’ drawings of ice skaters and winter scenes. The images are arranged on handouts you can copy, print and give to your students.

Thank you for making art with your students!
Jenny K.
