This South Carolina History reading focuses on the First Great Migration. It primarily focuses on migration factors during WWI. It discusses the increased economic disparity and how African Americans were left out of South Carolina's economic boom during the War.
Students are given the reading, and they must paraphrase it into their own words. This is an excellent cross-curricular activity that encourages the use of ELA skills in a Social Studies class.
There are three versions of this worksheet:
1-Basic Version without scaffolding
3-Bolded Terms and teacher highlights
This makes the activity great for a heterogenous grouping!
This activity is designed for SC History Standard 8-6, but it is appropriate for anyone working on the First Great Migration
