This tool kit is for teachers who are registered for the 2019 Great Puzzle Exchange. Please do not purchase this resource unless you have signed up to participate in the event and have received a confirmation email.

If you have already registered and have received your confirmation email, go ahead and purchase the tool kit so you can get started.

If you are interested in learning more about The Great Puzzle Exchange, you can read about it below.

I am hosting a very special collaborative event for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade U.S. teachers called The Great Puzzle Exchange. Students will practice critical thinking skills, geography, and writing for a fun purpose as they create brainteaser puzzles and exchange them {via U.S. mail} with other participating classes around the country. It's super organized, and I've done all of the legwork for you.

Here's how it works:

1. Register to participate via this link. Registration is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers in the United States from February 9, 2019 through February 28, 2019.

2. Once you have received your confirmation email, purchase this Great Puzzle Exchange Tool Kit. The tool kit includes the detailed directions for the event, plus all of the printable materials you will need to get started including a parent information letter, bulletin board header, "About the Puzzle Makers" form letter, puzzle paper, U.S. map, etc. This resource also includes links to puzzle websites and suggestions for how to manage the puzzle-making activity in your classroom. You can get started with your class at any time after you receive the confirmation email.

3. I will group the participating classes into clusters of about 10 teachers, making my very best effort to create groups that represent a variety of locations across the United States. You will receive your list of partner schools on or before March 3, 2019.

4. Your class will design one brainteaser puzzle and fill out one informational letter about your location and school. Then, you will make copies for the other classes in your cluster (about 10). It would be extra fun if you would include a few other little surprises in your envelope, perhaps a class picture or some stickers. Be creative!

5. Send your mail by March 12, 2019.

6. Then, in the days leading up to St. Patrick's Day, expect to receive mail from your partner schools! As the packages arrive, read about each class with your students and color their state on the map. Solve the puzzles and email the solutions in return.

I hope you will join us for this EPIC event! Click here to sign up.
