Are you tired of spending hours trying to figure out a percentage to put on a paper? You feel like it's an A or a B, but you're not sure about the percentage? This is a great rubric I use for many types of papers that has several categories: content, style, mechanics, format, and organization. Each section is divided into sections: 5, 4.5, 4, 3.5, and 3. With each number is a description of what the student would have to have to earn that grade. Example: A 5 for Content reads, "Addresses purpose directly, provides substantial relevant main and related sentences; focuses fully on main idea; strong thesis statement; correct PCs; no content errors; correct number of quotes, well-integrated quotes; no plagiarism."
The final score is out of 25; I multiply it by 4 to get the student's percentage out of 100. Very useful, extremely detailed, and has saved me much time deliberating over grades.
