Greatest Common Factor Game/Math Center by Miss Middle School Teacher
This is a great station or game for students to practice finding the Greatest Common Factor (GCF). All you need are some dice and some plastic cups for "cookie jars"! This product includes all the rest!
Students play in groups of 2-3. I have them use personal white boards, but they could just as easily complete the problems on notebook paper. They shuffle the deck of "GCF Cards" and place them face down on a table. Then, they flip one card over. Everyone in the group tries to accurately complete the problem (this is not a race!). Once everyone has finished, they show their answers. They can check answers with each other, or consult a copy of the answer key.
All students with correct answers get to roll the die. Whatever they roll is the number of "cookies" they put into their "cookie jar". Play continues for 10 rounds. At the end of 10 rounds, students count up the number of "cookies" in their cups; the student with the most cookies wins! My middle school students absolutely love this game!
This set includes: Student game directions, a set of 32 Greatest Common Factor cards (word problems are included!), an answer key for the GCF cards, cookie pieces to copy and cut out for the game, and teacher notes.
