This script on the GREATEST COMMON FACTOR involves students in reading and reviewing information about simplifying fractions. The script incorporates humor and contemporary language and references. It’s part of a collection in my book CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE SCRIPTS: MATH.
This script has special appeal for students with its game show theme. It is written for solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Reading and rehearsing the script reinforces information and facts about the greatest common divisor while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information.
