This project is used as part of a larger unit on Ancient Greece. Through this project, students will use the information they have learned about Ancient Greece to create their own city-state with a partner or in a small group. I recommend no more that 3 people working together for this assignment.
After students have learned the make-up of Ancient Greek city-states and the 4 forms of government that came out of Ancient Greece, split them into partners or small groups. The first thing they must do is answer the questions about city-states in Ancient Greece. After that the fun starts. Students are going to answer a series of questions, planning out the structure of their personal city-state. After they have planned out their information, they are going to create a slideshow to present this information to the rest of the class. Once all groups have presented, students are going to compete in a City-State showdown where groups battle it out for survival against all types of obstacles.
