Description

Greek & Latin Affixes & Roots 40 Week Study : Lesson Plans, Activities, Games+ BUNDLE

This is a complete 40 week morphology study of Greek & Latin word parts (prefixes, suffixes, and roots.) I personally use this for both vocabulary and spelling. I found that having separate word lists was often overwhelming for students, so I combined them into one list.

This unit is organized by week. Each week includes:

a suggested 5 day lesson plan.

a choice day with 3 suggestions. (Any needed templates are included.)

word list and definitions.

interactive notebook piece.

interactive activities such as Dominoes, Go Fish, and Puzzles.

a worksheet each week.

Each week features 1 - 2 word parts and 10 vocabulary words. These lists could easily be cut to fewer words.

The words parts covered in each quarter are as follows.

Quarter 1

non-

re-

dis-, in-

-ly, -y

-ous, -ious

script/scrib, graph

auto

tele, photo

-ist

Quarter 2

Quarter 4

In addition, I spiral previous words into the hands on activities in order to keep those words "fresh."

This unit was design with grades 4-5 in mind, but it could be used in other grades as well. The first week is FREE and can be downloaded HERE in order to see if this unit will meet your needs.

DIGITAL UNITS

Do you need printable units instead of digital? These lessons are also available in PDF format, with hands on activities. Check them out HERE.

Do you need flexibility?

Having both digital and printable bundles provides teachers with more flexibility in their teaching. For example:

  • The PDF lessons include many hands-on games that are great for student engagement and can be used as centers.
  • Running short on copies? Use the digital slides.
  • Planning for a sub or computers are down? Use printables instead of digital files.
  • Use some activities for reteaching.
  • Use the digital games for students who were absent for the hands on games.
  • Switch between digital and printable depending on whether you are learning in person or online.
