PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Webquests are great alternatives to the traditional classroom lecture and also work well with the “flipped classroom.” The following Webquest can be used as part of a history or English class to introduce students to aspects of life in Ancient Greece. Students follow links to various websites and answer 28 questions addressing the following areas of life (ANSWER KEY INCLUDED):

1. Birth Traditions
2. Death, Burial, and the Afterlife
3. Athletics
4. Government
5. Architecture (includes a virtual “design your own temple”) activity

I used this activity in my class with Sophocles’ Antigone and followed up with a discussion comparing ancient Greek traditions to our own, as well as discussing the effect of the Greeks on aspects of our lives today. The birth (gender bias), death, and burial parts are particularly relevant to Antigone but also can lead to more general discussions.
