In my classroom my kiddos LOVE studying Greek myths! We've read several myths, but the story of Icarus was one I knew they would love! This is a myth that constantly resurfaces year after year in classrooms ranging from elementary school through high school courses. So why not introduce this myth to them now? In this unit your students will analyze the character’s point of view and character traits, making sure to cite textual evidence every step of the way.
I always make my best effort to make connections across the curriculum as often as possible. By connecting the myth of Icarus to French artist Henri Matisse’s "Icarus", I tried to provide students with an opportunity to connect content in the classroom to the real world. I hope that these projects prove to be engaging and exciting for your students!
