There are many interesting characters found within ancient Greek mythology. This 7-8 class period lesson plan includes everything you need to teach your students how to identify and draw various Greek mythological creatures. This art project will work well independently in an art class or in a regular classroom as part of a history unit on ancient Greece. (The instructor doesn’t need any drawing skills to teach this lesson.)
This downloadable zip file includes 2 Power Points, a PDF instruction book, and a PDF lesson plan.
First, you’ll be able to introduce the creatures to your students with the “Greek Mythological Creatures and Name That Creature” PowerPoint. There are descriptions and examples of these six Greek characters: centaur, cyclops, gorgon, Pegasus, satyr, and sphinx. The students will have a chance to identify and name the creatures to practice the new vocabulary. There is a second “Name That Creature with Student Art” PowerPoint to use for review during the next class. The lesson plan covers the requirements for the project and how to use the “How to Draw Greek Mythological Creatures” tutorial books.
If you don’t need the entire lesson plan, you can download just the How to Draw Greek Mythological Creatures
instruction book to use in your own art or history lesson.
If you like the images of these Greek monsters, download the clip art here: Greek Mythological Creatures Clip Art
