The lesson is a three page retelling of the classic myth, “Demeter and Persephone.” The story of Persephone and her mother was used in mythology to explain the changing of the seasons.The lesson comes with four pictures to reinforce story elements. Eighteen multiple choice questions lend themselves to comprehension assessment. Reading skills include: vocabulary, making inferences, identifying character traits, determining details, and drawing conclusions. The real reason the seasons change is also explained so students can learn a science concept. I’ve provided an answer key as well a list of variations. It includes Roman names in case you prefer using those and variations in the amount of months Persephone spends up on earth and down in the underworld.
