This is a one page worksheet "Riddle of the Sphinx" based on Greek mythology. Half the page is informational text telling how the winged lion with a woman's head challenged travelers to solve her riddle. Oedipus was the one to solve it, so he got to be the King of Thebes. At the bottom of the page are 6 reading comprehension question in short answer form. Four of the questions are literal comprehension requiring students to find the answers in the informational text at the top of the page. Two questions are Inferencial comprehension requiring students to draw a conclusion and make a generalization. Answer key is included as well as a drawing of a yellow Sphinx head.
