This activity is a way to connect ancient Greek word roots with modern English. This particular root word activity is longer than the other ones because of the magnitude of derivatives featured. This is a great activity for an English, Latin, or even Science High school classroom (the amount of science vocabulary present). It could be used for seat work, extra credit, group discussion, substitute work, or bell ringer. This helps prepare students for SAT and ACT and overall helps with reading comprehension. I designed this one specially for earth day because of the Greek root word Geo, but it could be used at any time the teacher wants to connect word roots and science or vocabulary. There are several other Greek roots potentially present in this activity as well; the answer key explains how to connect them to the material.
