Perfect Station for students to learn root words in a fun way! I used these in my science class, but it would also be great in an ELAR class! Students loved to use these cards to create their own "Invented Word Dictionary"! Students drew one prefix card and one suffix card to invent a new word. Then they wrote a definition in the composition book labeled "Invented Word Dictionary". I only had one book for the whole class, and they just added on each time it was their turn at the station. They thought it was fun and I loved that they were learning the meanings of the prefixes and suffixes!
I have also included other task cards to use as you choose.
The cards I have included were specifically chosen to help students learn Science-related words, such as "-ology", "photo-", and "therm-". This is a cross-curricular activity that will benefit students in all subjects.
Great for all levels of students--from ESL, At-risk, to Gifted & Talented.
