### Description

Are you looking for a unit that teaches the essential Greek and Latin roots/prefixes that lead to comprehension of geometry terms and the common English words? This Numerical Prefixes unit will help you do all of that! The unit includes a full week of engaging activities, games and practice pages to teach students the prefixes uni, mono, bi, tri, quad, quint and penta. Perfect for ELLs or for any student who needs to increase their math vocabulary!

The unit focuses on the Greek and Latin prefixes with engaging activities like Would you Rather? Task, Cards, a Word Sort and Beat the Clock! It also includes printable Practice Pages and an assessment! Everything you need for a great week of vocabulary instruction is included!

Your students will be engaged and get plenty of practice speaking, reading and writing the target vocabulary. Along the way, they will deepen their understanding of key vocabulary and how prefixes can change the meaning of root words! They will learn the logic behind big number names like billion, trillion and quintillion. They will understand why there can only be ONE monarch at a time, and the system behind naming many geometrical figures.

These are the assessed words:

billion

monarch

triangle

pentagram

bilingual

trillion

quintillion

monotonous

quintuplets

uniform

triple

monolingual

pentagon

Students practice the following prefixes: uni, mono, bi, tri, quad, quint and penta.

You get:

1. A silly story to provide context for the target words
2. Sorting Activity (with a bonus challenge!)
3. Would you Rather? Task Cards
4. Beat the Clock practice activity
5. Three Student practice sheets
6. One student Reference sheet
7. Assessment
8. Lesson plans for you

Everything you need to teach uni, mono, bi, tri, quad, quint and penta is included - just print, teach, and enjoy!
