Here are 14 Root Word assessments.
Each week students are given 10 word root list. Some lists contain 10 words with the same root or 2 different lists with 5 words that share the same root.
Each assessment includes 3 parts:
1. Part 1- Spelling
Students are responsible for spelling each of their roots. They then use this as their word bank
2. Part 2- Definition
Students fill in the words to match the definition
3. Part 3- Sentence
Students have to use each word in a given sentence.
Included is a key for each assessment.
How I use these in class:
On Monday I give the students the list of words and we introduce them. They are to rewrite all the definitions. For homework during the work they work on a Frayer model on Google Slides. Each word gets its own slide where students have to include two synonyms, 2 antonyms, a sentence, and a picture. This can easily be translated to a paper Frayer model. I create a quizlet for each week that students use to study.
On Thursday the Frayer model is due. Friday we quiz/test over the words. Check out my store for to see an example of one of the quizzes!
