This Greek and Latin Root Words resource will be your go-to for easily incorporating this important skill in your Middle School English Language Arts Classroom! We've included everything you need to effectively teach 50 word parts to your students. BUT, what's different about this resource is that it is all student-centered. Students will be doing the bulk of the teaching, which makes for an incredible learning experience for them!

Here's how it works:

• Each day, a new student presents a different root word poster to the class.
• Students take notes in their Root Word Booklet.
• Posters are then displayed in the classroom as teaching aids
• Referring to the root words and examples often, gives students a chance to become familiar with them.
• An assessment is given after every 10 root words to monitor understanding.

  • In this document, we've included all 50 words parts, definitions, sample words, as well as mentor sentences for you to share with your students.

• 2 Root Words Poster Templates
  • Because students will be creating posters to share with their classmates and then to be hung around your classroom, we knew templates would be key to ensuring students include all elements required of them. These two poster templates will do just that!

• Cover Sheet
  • This cover sheet is for your teacher binder where you can store all of the documents this resource includes.

• Scope and Sequence
  • The scope and sequence has all of the word parts laid out for you, so you can easily track which students have presented on which word and when!

• 5 Assessments
  • Assessment were created to be given to students after every 10 words, so every 2 weeks or so. There are 5 assessments total.
  • EDITABLE Assessments have been included as well should you want to make any adjustments to more specifically fit your students' needs. Please note: You do need PowerPoint in order to open and edit this document.

• Root Words Booklets
  • These student booklets will be used on a daily basis where students can easily take notes and keep track of all of the information their classmates have provided on each root word part.
  • These booklets are set up in a way very similar to a graphic organizer, so students can ensure they include everything they need (and you can quickly check for completion).
