I have created this simple and fun game to play with my students to review Greek and Latin roots. These roots match up with Set #1 English 9 and Set #2 English 10 books that i am currently selling on TpT. If you don't have the Root books you can still use the game, but it is made to support the root books.
The object of the game is for a student to earn as many points he/she can by writing root definitions on a game board. The game board is basically the same as a root test, so I would play the game the week of a test to motivate students to study.
-Class is set up in teams of 4-5
-Each team has a binder that contains the game board
-Each player has 20 seconds to write down as many roots as he/she can
-Turns are taken based on the "luck of the draw"
-During each turn music is played to distract the student and to make the game fun
-Students compete against the other teams as well as the students on their own team
-The game is based on Uno (but not really)
Students LOVE the game. The music, the excitement of who goes next, the anxiety of your turn...as a teacher it is a blast to watch!
