Suggestions for using these activities (grades 3+):
I use these to differentiate for those students who need a challenge.
First, I give each student the pretest to see what they already know
Then, I use the flashcards to teach and review the terms. Large “O” rings are great for this! Next, I let the students practice as a center activity (on their own or paired with a partner) using the matching game pieces. This can be done with all the cards facing up and the students take turns finding matches. For those advances students, it could be done as a game of concentration where all the pieces are faced down and they find matching pairs. Have the students create words (real or made-up) by combining the affixes together. Last, I give the pretest to monitor gained knowledge.
