This project involves students researching a Greek god or goddess. Included in this item is an example PowerPoint to model for students the expectation. Also included is a rubric for grading the presentation and a handout for students on what should be included in their presentation.
The project requires students to research a god and provide information on the gods' domain, family, some facts about the god, a summary of a myth in which the god appears, and finally students create an advertisement for a company related to the god.
Also, included in this file is a PowerPoint for teaching students about advertisements and products that are named afters the Greek gods and goddesses. In addition to my example PowerPoint, I have included some of the advertisements my students have created over the years.
Students generally like this project and the family part is fun as they discover they are all related to each other. Every year, I hear someone in my class say to another student, "You're my sister (or aunt, father, etc.)."
I like to do this project, after I have given a brief overview of Greek Mythology (See my lesson on 'Introduction to Greek Mythology") and my students have read the Greek Creation story with Uranus, Gaea, the Titans, and the Olympians.
