Green Eggs & Ham
A Color Word Game
This is a game to help children read color words. It is also fun to play after reading Green Eggs and Ham.
Print the gameboard and cards on cardstock and laminate. Copy the word cards 3 times and the special card sheets once. Copy the ham cards to tape or glue on a green unifix cube to use as a marker. Copy a gmeboard for each child.
The children will take turns drawing a card. They will read the word and cover that color egg with a ham/unifix cube. They will put the card face up in the discard pile. If they can’t read the word, they don’t cover an egg. If they draw a special card, they do as it says. The first child to cover their card wins. You may need to use the discard pile if no one has covered their board and you run out of cards. Take out the special cards.
Your egg is blue! Give up 2! The child will take 2 hams/cubes off their board.
Your egg is yellow! Yay! Cover 2 eggs today! The child will cover any 2 eggs.
Your egg is black! Give all your ham back! The child take all of their ham/cubes off their board.
Green eggs and ham! Yahoo! Take 2! The child will take 2 more cards.
