This is a lesson to be used for grade K (or grade 1). Students trace the greetings words, color, and cut out the puppets (on the line for the square), before pasting pair puppets together, back to back. For example, the "Hola", and "Adiós" puppets can be pasted together, Afterwards, practice the greetings "Hola", and "Adiós", etc. while students turn the puppet to the correct greeting, and repeat. Students will practice three skills; writing, reading, and speaking. I use this lesson with a literacy connection, reading the book "Margaret and Margarita" by Lynn Reiser (and after a coloring activity of the middle pages of the book). I made "amigo matts" using pink and blue 11" X 17" inch coloured paper laminated, with a picture of a boy and the word "amigo" on the blue, a girl and the word "amiga" on the pink. I found the grade K students like to wiggle and move, and the "amigo" matts helped them stay on their bottoms.
