Use this worksheet to give students at different developmental levels a better understanding on graphs, grids, rows, columns and quadrants. This worksheet is open ended to allow for more differentiated learning, having students challenge themselves based on the image they choose to paste onto the smaller grid and enlarge. This assignment is designed to develop a better understanding of proportions and a technique to enlarge an image to any size. Meeting CA Common Core Visual Art Standards this project touched on the real-world culminating task to design and develop a community engaged mural. Personally, I cut out comics and little doodle illustrations from the 'New Yorker' magazine because they are the perfect size, and relatively small. My students picked the image they wanted to draw from the images I had provided them. Some students could pick out their own image, based on their skill level. It is also possible to have students draw their own mural design on a 3" x 5" note card and then paste it onto the smaller grid, so that can easily see how to enlarge their own drawings using the grid technique.
