This POWER-POINT lesson is a great lesson to use to help reinforce the concepts of 4/4 meter and low la for students in grades 2nd and 3rd grade (4/4 meter for 2nd graders and low la for 3rd graders). Typically, this song is introduced as low as Kindergarten using just the basic steady beat concept as well as with 1st grade, expanding to duration of sound. This song can certainly be used across the span of the lower elementary grade levels, adding age and Kodaly appropriate concepts year after year. In this file, students will be expected to keep a steady beat, notate the rhythm of the song, label the form (for older students), play an accompanying ostinato, and identify the song in real staff notation by seeing it on the staff.
