My students LOVE Grocery Shopping "Extravaganza"! Print all pages, laminate if desired, and cut. Large item display can be taped to the front of a desk or table where the “cashiers” will be sitting. The item cards will also be placed next to the cashier mats. Identify 10 students as “cashiers” (or less if not using all items/less if students will have more than one item at their "store") and the rest of the students will be “shoppers.” Shoppers will have an amount of coins in a bucket or bag that they can walk around to the different cashiers and buy products. Cashiers should be students who are able to make change. I also gave the cashiers dry erase boards to calculate the change. We were working on subtracting an amount from $1.00, so a lot of the shoppers had dollar bills to allow the cashiers to have to make change. Allow students to shop for a certain amount of time, then switch the cashiers and shoppers if desired. All items cost less than $1.00 in this product. Allow one cashier to have more than one product, so shoppers have to add the amounts!
