This fun unit contains the following activities: Emergent Reader "A Trip to H.E.B." (This is perfect if you live in Texas and introduces sight words I, Will, Put, In, My), Pretend play "Shopping List." Pretend play "Sandwich Order Form." Fruits and Veggies Tally Up, "Paint a Carrot" template (kids mix yellow and red paint first), What's for Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? w/ pics for cutting out so they can glue to paper plates to create a meal, Sandwich Shop Labels and photo to show how it's done. Open/Closed sign.

You're students will LOVE this unit. Set up a pretend Sandwhich Shop. I used colored foam to creat sandwich ingredients and a cut sponge for the bread. Students will learn how to build a sandwich in sequential order. and use all kinds of new vocabulary. Teach opposites with the "Open and Closed" Sign. Teach mixing primary colors red and yellow. Students use play forms for inventive writing. Have them sort foods based on Healthy/Non-Healthy, Fruits/Veggies, Breads/Meats, etc... Students practice counting, writing numerals and making tally marks.
