2) A "Gross Domestic Product" Activity. It begins with a graphic organizer that asks your students to define gross domestic product, asks them how GDP is used, and requires them to identify what is and what is not included when calculating gross domestic product. Next, students will have a chance to put principles into practice by using a list of 10 market activities and determining whether or not they are included in gross domestic product. Students must explain their conclusions. Finally, students will use their knowledge and a collection of data provided to practice calculating nominal GDP for 2 countries in 2 different years, and then must calculate the percentage change in GDP between those two years.
This activity can be used in many different ways in the classroom. Students can work independently, in pairs or this activity can be used as a jigsaw in order to facilitate a class wide discussion about the topics discussed in the activity.
3) A detailed answer key to the lesson activity to save you time and help guide student comprehension.
