Reinforce sight words, making a prediction, graphing skills, and writing a response with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "Groundhog Day" mini book practices sight words and gives Groundhog Day facts in simple sentences. I have included two levels of writing practice. For beginning writers, a traceable sentence starter is included. Students will draw whether or not the groundhog will see his shadow and complete the sentence to match. More advanced writers will write a complete sentence to match their picture. Students will also identify, draw, and label the type of weather the groundhog needs to see and not see his shadow. Last, I have included a Groundhog Day predictions pocket chart pictograph and data sheet. Students will vote "yes" or "no" to answer "Will the groundhog see his shadow?". After completing the graph, students will record and analyze the data in the recording sheet.
