This Groundhog Day differentiated mini unit is a fun and engaging way to teach your students about Groundhog Day and what a prediction is. This differentiated and adapted activity was designed to be used in a variety of classrooms, including early childhood programs, special education classrooms and kindergarten through third grade classrooms.
The included reading passage teaches students all about Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day. It also teaches students what a prediction is and how to make a prediction.
The craft includes a fun pop-up Groundhog with a shadow
and weather symbols
depending on the student's prediction.
The differentiated worksheets give student’s the chance to predict what will happen this Groundhog Day. The worksheets correspond to the reading passage, and all answers can be found within the reading passage. There are four levels of worksheets as followed:
-Able to answer questions with complete thoughts.
- Able to follow prompts to complete a thought.
- Can trace letters with/without assistance.
- Mark the correct answer by coloring the choice, circling, using a bingo dobber etc.
