Description

All around the world, animals and animal behavior is seen as a way to herald the changing seasons and the coming Spring. This original song by DARIA (Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou) is a silly song that uses wordplay to talk about groundhogs, woodchucks and sap-suckers (a large bird in the woodpecker family).

While you enjoy the song, you can color and create simple pop-up puppets to act out the groundhog emerging from its burrow and seeing its shadow (or not).

How do animals predict the seasons or change with the weather in your area? This fun song and puppet activity encourages observation of nature and a discussion about animals and how they play a meaningful part in our eco-system and our lives. Lyric sheet is included in the zip file.
