Interactive WH question mats for Groundhog Day!
This thematic, fun, and interactive product can be used to target who, what, where, when, and why questions! It includes 2 smash mats for each wh-question for a total of 10 mats! Additionally, it includes 10 question cards as prompts for the smash mats!
To prepare: Print desired smash mats (pages 3-12). Each student will need at least one, but more can be used if time allows. Laminate for durability. Print prompt cards (pages 13-15). Laminate, cut apart, hole punch, and bind together with a ring.
To use: Discuss the pictures on the smash mat(s) prior to starting the activity so that students are familiar with the type of answers that are being elicited. Read the question prompts for each smash mat one at a time. Have the student answer the question verbally or by pointing to a picture. Then, have the student roll a playdoh ball, place on top of the picture that answers the question and SMASH the playdoh ball!
*The questions and pictures on these smash mats are the same as my other wh-question smash mat sets as (in my experience) students often need a great deal of repetitive practice with this skill.*
