This is a "Group Activity" lesson on the Skeletal System. It contains 4 models that address the following topics:
1. Basic anatomy of a long bone
2. Basic Anatomy of Haversian systems
3. Classification of bones by shape
4. Appendicular/Axial Skeleton and bone identification.
I created these activities after attending a POGIL workshop in 2009. Pogils are great ways to introduce new information in an inquiry based way and allow for students to work together to collaborate on responses.
I have other "Group Activity" lessons available for Macromolecules, Cellular Level, Tissue Level, Integumentary System, Skeletal System, and Muscular System.
**I was asked by the POGIL Project not to call these items "POGILs" due to copyright/trademark issues...so they are now called "Group Activities." Many customers have used these as preview to new material, review of taught material, and even sub plans, so please use them however you see fit : )
