Directions for Use: This teaching tool is intended to assist with group planning. Use these materials to create a visual of the groups you have predetermined. If you post the group assignments on the wall, staff members working with the children will know immediately who they are working with for any given activity. When you are working with children who have difficulty waiting or managing spare time, these organizational tools can make a world of difference. Eliminate idle time, maximize learning time and enjoy the children you have been given the opportunity to teach!
1. To prepare the group charts, you will need background paper to serve as the backdrop for your hearts and instructor assignment. Bright colored cardstock is recommended. Laminate the card stock. 2. Cut out the hearts and rectangle on the adjoining page. 3. Add student names to the hearts and instructor names to the rectangle. Be sure to use only one name per heart and one instructor name in the rectangle. If you have more than one instructor or more than four students, you need to make multiple copies of the hearts page. 4. Laminate the hearts and rectangle once the names have been added. 5. Add Velcro to the backs of the hearts and rectangle. It is best to use the soft side of the Velcro for the pieces in order to avoid snags to clothing during use. 6. Add rough-sided Velcro to the laminated backdrop. You will only need as many Velcro pieces as the largest number of children you plan to have in your groups. For example, if you know that your groups will be no more than three children in all, you only need to place three Velcro pieces on the backdrop. Post your groups and change them as needed!
