The following is a two part activity with answer key for the chapter in Sociology discussing Groups.
Part 1 asks students to identify what constitutes a "group" and asks students to differentiate between Primary and Secondary Groups as well as Social Categories and Social Aggregates.
Part 2 is a Formative Assessment which instructs students to apply their understanding of what a group is and what a group is not. Part 2 activity gives 12 real world examples and students are instructed to identify two things for each example:
1= Determine if they are a Group or Not
2= Based on their determination for #1, state what type of group and why OR state what the example is and why.
This is a great combined activity to teach as well as reinforce and have students apply their knowledge and understanding of the chapter on Groups.
