This activity is a great way to get the students collaborating and sharing their knowledge of graphing. This activity has students organize a data table and then construct a large graph of the data in which they demonstrate their knowledge of how to correctly graph data. It also has analysis questions that ask the students to explain their decision for independent and dependent variables, which axis they placed them on, and why they chose that particular data as that variable. They will also examine the graph to see if they can determine what the slope means for this set of data. The data provided is meant to be used to create a scatter plot graph with a best fit line.
File includes teacher instructions, the student group worksheet, an answer key to the analysis questions, and a printable 1"x1" graph paper template.
