This project is based on 8th grade Language Arts Common Core standards. I incorporate this project into my non-fiction unit after studying text structures, author's purpose, and genres of literature as a fun way to give student authenticity to the typically boring Non-Fiction unit.
The project involves group members choosing one genre of their choice. They must then research three different articles defining that genre. After finding the articles, they must go through the levels of Bloom's Taxonomy, doing different activities that are specificed on the handout for each level that allow them to dive deep into their genre.
Two sided-handout with
-KUD chart (what they should KNOW, what they will UNDERSTAND, how they will DEMONSTRATE understanding) that specifies the exact Common Core standards being addressed and the exact activity that will show mastery of the standard.
-Graphic organizer with project ideas and questions for each level of Bloom's Taxonomy
-Graphic organizer for students to classify their three different informational texts
This project is geared toward gifted students but can be used with any group of students as long as modifications are available. It is listed as a 4-day project because I include classtime to work on it.
