Fun to color and lots of practice using collaborative/cooperative skills in this poster set! Use this project to reinforce group work expectations. Each letter in the word GROUPS is a poster. Copy 'cut lines' on the back and cut apart to make puzzles out of each letter-poster. You can even customize the number of pieces so that you have the right number of pieces for your class.
1) Copy the poster on one side and cut lines on the other. I've included a variety of cut lines so that you can create the exact number of pieces you need so that each student gets their own puzzle piece. Cut apart on the lines to make 'puzzle pieces' out of the posters.
2) Introduce the rules for group work, then hand out individual puzzle pieces randomly to students.
3) Students will search for classmates who have the other pieces of their puzzle/poster. There are 5 puzzle posters (one for each letter in G-R-O-U-P-S)
4) Students collaborate to complete their poster using limited materials (one set of colored pencils). I set criteria for the coloring (included) and students negotiate as to the colors that will be used. The goal is for the puzzle poster to look like a single piece rather than separate pieces. Once students have finished coloring, they will glue the pieces to another sheet of card stock or construction paper with a glue stick. Laminate the posters before hanging if you like.
