This set of grouping cards can be used in any classroom. Students can be grouped into groups of 2’s, 3’s and 4’s and works with up to 36 students. I have included 2 files: one color and one black and white.
Here’s how it works:
Are you tired of making student groups? Do you have students who try to beat your grouping system? If you said yes to either of these questions, then this product is for you.
For groups of 2, group by team name. (For example, “Chicago” and “Cubs” would make a pair.) Additionally, when grouped by 2’s, there will be an even student and an odd student. So you really get a grouping within a grouping.
For groups of 3, group by phrase. Additionally, when grouped by 3’s, there will be an “odd person out” which means two cards are even, and one card is odd. Or two cards are odd and one card is even.
For groups of 4, group by baseball position. Additionally, all but one group (the Right Fielders) will have an “odd person out” as described above.
Optional: if printing on colored paper, 1 color per page (6 colors total) you will have groups of 6.
The great thing about these grouping cards is that if Billy and Jane are a group of 2, they will NOT be together in the group of 3 or the group of 4. There are only 2 students who would repeat groups when grouped into 6’s. Other than that, no two students will ever be part of more than one group!
This is wonderful for both younger students who need to move around often, and for older students who quickly lose focus.
You can print out the file SINGLE SIDED in color or black and white. This is a personal preference, and does not affect the usage of this product. You can print onto white paper, colored paper, or a variety of different colored papers. This is also a personal preference. I like to print each page of the file on a different color paper. Then I can also group in 6’s by color.
Want to make these last for years?
If you teach multiple classes per day, I would suggest trimming the cards around each border and laminating after printing them out.
