This set of grouping cards can be used in any classroom. Up to 36 students can be grouped into groups of 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s and 6’s. Additionally, I’ve added a number to each card so that you can also choose a student by random number. Want to split the class in half? Group by even/odd numbers.
Here’s how it works:
Are you tired of making student groups? Do you have students who try to beat your grouping system? If you said yes to either of these questions, then this product is for you.
Students select a card at the beginning of class or activity. Your students who want to beat the system are going to immediately try to get their friends to pick a similar card, but no two cards are identical! You can group students into 2’s by having students group by food image. You can regroup your class into 3’s by selecting the vehicle image. How about groups of 4? No problem! Ask the class to group by animal image. Groups of 5 are obtained by grouping by sport image and you can groups into 6’s by color of the card. Lastly, you can select a number from 1-36. Each time you regroup, the groups are unique! This is wonderful for both younger students who need to move around often, and for older students who quickly lose focus. You can have students pick a card at the beginning of the school year, and use it the entire year, or you can have students pick a card daily and return it.
Print out each of the 6 pages onto 6 different colored pieces of paper, as indicated on the document. (For example, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.) You can also print the cards in color or in black and white. Both files are included in this product. I have also included a small instructions card that can be cut out, laminated and stored with your grouping cards for easy reference.
Print out each page SINGLE SIDED onto paper. Trim around each border. Laminate if desired.
Want to make these last for years?
If you teach multiple classes per day, or just want the cards to be durable, I would suggest trimming the cards around each border and laminating after printing them out.
Have a smaller or larger class? Or need to group students differently?
