Grouping students is an effective way to: differentiate, increase student-to-student interactions, accommodate for special needs, and motivate students. This grouping tool will guide your class through numerous effective practice behaviors while accomplishing your learning objectives. Each student will receive a form that he/she completes and is responsible for throughout a grouping exercise. The tool provides for group expectations, individual roles/responsibilities, group/individual reflection, self assessment, and summarizing learning. Because of the format and size of the form, even hard to motivate students will be more likely to participate. Each form is the size of a half sheet of paper; print and cut vertically to get two per page.
In addition to the tool, I have included justification for each section of the form that you can use to attach purpose to what you are doing.
